1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how FMSolo ("FMSolo", "we", "us") handles information when you use our website and the FMSolo broadcasting application (together, the "Service"). It's written to be genuinely readable, not just legally defensible — if something here is unclear, contact us and we'll fix the wording.

This document is a general-purpose template provided for FMSolo's own use and has not been reviewed by a lawyer for any specific jurisdiction. If you're adapting this site for your own deployment, have it reviewed by counsel before relying on it.

2. Information we collect

We collect the minimum needed to run a live broadcasting service:

• Account information. Your email address, and anything you choose to add to a station profile — station name, description, category, schedule, and any banner image you upload.
• Usage activity. When you go live or listen, how long a session lasts, and aggregate listener counts. This powers features like your broadcast history and streaks.
• Chat messages. Messages you send in a station's live chat, visible to that station's other listeners at the time.
• Device & log data. Standard web request logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) generated automatically by any web service, used for security and abuse prevention.

3. What we deliberately don't collect

Just as important as what we collect is what we've specifically designed the Service to avoid:

• We do not record or store your live audio. Broadcasts are relayed in real time, directly from your browser to your listeners' browsers. Nothing about the audio content itself — mic input or playlist files — is uploaded to or saved on our servers.
• Chat history is ephemeral. Messages exist to give context to listeners joining mid-broadcast and are not retained as a permanent archive tied to your identity beyond what's needed for basic moderation during that session.
• We do not sell your personal information. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.

4. How we use your information

We use the information above to:

• Operate core features — authentication, live broadcasting, chat, favorites, and analytics on your own station.
• Send account-related email, like sign-in links and, if you opt in, a notification when a station you've favorited goes live.
• Maintain the security, integrity, and reliability of the Service, including detecting abuse.
• Understand aggregate usage patterns so we can improve the product — always in a form that doesn't single out an individual user.

5. Cookies & local storage

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to remember basic preferences (like your light/dark theme choice). We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. Some preferences — like a broadcaster's chosen background animation — are stored only in your own browser's local storage and are never sent to our servers.

6. Third parties & sharing

We rely on a small number of infrastructure providers to run the Service — for example, hosting and transactional email delivery. These providers process data only as needed to perform that function, under their own security and confidentiality commitments. We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of FMSolo, our users, or the public.

7. Data retention

We keep account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain limited records for legal or security purposes. Live audio and chat, as noted above, are never retained as recordings in the first place.

8. Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. You can update most account details yourself from your account settings, or reach out via the contact page for anything else — including account deletion requests.

9. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.

10. Security

We use industry-standard measures — encrypted connections, hashed credentials, and access controls — to protect your information. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we treat this seriously and will notify affected users if a breach materially affects them.

11. International users

The Service may be hosted and processed in countries other than your own. By using FMSolo, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in those countries, which may have different data protection rules than where you live.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service evolves. If a change is material, we'll make a reasonable effort to let you know — for example, via email or a notice on the site — before it takes effect. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version.
